Well well well, what do we have here?

The first post in about 9 months?

Why could this be?

For a start, I have been busy with working on HIV and safe sex films, as well as pursuing other personal interests since university year 2 ended.

The most important reason was that I have been feverishly getting together ideas and work on my new company, as well
as developing content and designs for the company’s website (which will be replacing my wordpress blog here)! The name of the company is Castle Cake, catchy, tasty and fun! We produce media content for companies and bands, usually to help promote an online portfolio. We work in a friendly and professional manner, aiming to be as approachable as possible!

Professional Production Practice Studies

Uni is full throttle, all the way to christmas, as this year we were thrown into groups (my first group project ,besides musclebird, where i got little creative input). Got plenty on, and once again I feel the strain of ‘no time for my own work’, although Cake Castle is moving along nicely (still don’t know if I prefer castle cake or cake castle). A lot of the design has been done, but while I’m carrying on with uni work, personal projects go on hold :(

Oh and by the way, Fable 2 is very fun, Farcry 2 is very immersive, and Fallout 3 isn’t working on my PC, even though it said it’d run (should do on ultra high detail, so why isnt it when i turn everything down?!).

Gotta fix this PC and get Vista Service pack 1 actually installing.

oh and by the way, HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!! YAAAAARRRR!!!!

Well it’s been a fantastic month!

Moved into the red house in bristol on 15th, International Talk Like a Pirate Day on the 19th, celebrated my birthday on 23rd, rachel’s birthday the next day, and started animation today. Also I start as a PAL leader for first years tomorrow, basically helping them swim through year 1, using my knowledge and special training :O

Castle cake is coming along nicely, Tom and I have a showreel together and need Tony to spice it up with his audacious wizardary. Also started work on a pirate based film. Just a little bit of light hearted fun following that disturbing sonic cartoon (hehehe).

New Computer

Well, this month has marked yet another successful summer of not doing ANYTHING :) I haven’t worked this little since I were a wee baby boy.

So, I’m getting very excited about moving into Bristol again next month and starting the second year of my most excellent animation course; and to prepare myself I splashed out about £500 on a new PC that should have cost about £700 (bargain). 2.4GHz Intel core 2 quad Q6600, 3GB memory, ATI Radeon HD4850, 700GB HDD, and I was given as an early birthday present; an LG W2252S monitor (22″, 1680×1050, 10,000:1 contrast, 5ms refresh rate). It basically is the most amazing PC you can get for less than £700.

Had a great time at Greenbelt this month- I just wish I’d watched Jose Gonzales and not that rubbish Fightstar band with that charlie from Busted.. Gladly didn’t watch him to the end; there was Chai to drink :)

Don’t forget it’s my birthday on the 23rd September, and more importantly International Talk Like a Pirate Day on the 19th! Yaaaarrrr!

Mid-Summer

Well, nothing much has been happening over the last month. ITV fixers animation was on TV again last night at about 6.15pm. Groovy

Also, the pace has been picking up regarding production studio starting, so far the Creative Kings (ooh lala). Tony should be drawing up a website idea for us (lovely of him) and I’ve been playing with a few logo designs. mostly crowns and such. Something clean and simple.

Off to Greece now for two weeks (yes, I am very lucky!). New Harry Potter trailer today, it was pretty good. anywho- enjoy summer!

Eggman’s Eggstacy

Well, year 1 of the course has now been finished as well as musclebird and the ITV fixers, and with my girlfriend running off to the bahamas to study marine biology for a week, I found a lot of free time to play with- so I worked damned hard on this rude little number.

I ripped the speech and SFX from Sonic Adventure DX, then composed it together. This contains the actual voices of the characters!

ITV Fixers

Hello there, long month no see!

I’ve had to put personal projects on hold all month as this coming week I have the two final deadlines for my first year of animation at UWE (exciting stuff), and I’ve had to put all my design and animation efforts into these.

Except for one other project.

ITV will be launching a new segment onto their news (most likely in the south west region as I recall), and being animation students, everyone on my course was given a brief to pitch an idea for an intro.

“Brilliant! Something else on TV will be just dandy.” Is what I most likely thought as we were briefed about the specifications. Luckily only 6 of us made pitches, so all were chosen to be produced, and below is the current version of my intro, named ‘computer fixer’. As usual it was made entirely in flash, and the audio and logo were provided by the ITV fixers team. Enjoy!

Excuse the 5 second pause at the beginning, necessary for the TV people.

Well, now that I have stuffed myself with an uncountable number of creme eggs, I think it’s time to get to work.

I still have plenty of work to do for my course at university, and I aim to plough through within the next month to do at least 90% of it by the end of the month. This is because the end of the month marks the animation trip to Germany! Like I always say, I will try to update more often, with more interesting content. Posting a month apart with no images or videos is not really what I aim to do, but I’m afraid obcom is the lowest priority of things I need to do.

I am also considering a start on developing an advert for the Doritos competition, but university is taking up my time :s
